Peter McNulty funeral details

Details of Portlaoise and Laois football star Peter McNulty’s funeral arrangements have been announced.

The 25-year-old, who died unexpectedly on Saturday, will be removed from his parents Malachy and Violet’s residence in Summerhill, Portlaoise this evening at 6.15 o’clock to arrive at S.S. Peter’s and Paul’s Church at 7 o’clock. Requiem Mass will take place at 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday), followed by burial in S.S. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Peter’s death has plunged Laois GAA into mourning and led to the postponement of last Sunday’s scheduled Laois SFC semi-final between Portlaoise and Stradbally.

A member of the staff at Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin, he was part of Laois’ 2003 All-Ireland minor winning team and also captained the O’Moore County to a Leinster under 21 title in 2006. He also won county and provincial honours with his beloved Portlaoise.

His funeral is expected to be attended by GAA players from all over Ireland.
