Borris favoruties for semi spot
LEINSTER JHC QUARTER FINAL
Borris in Ossory v Mostrim (Longford)
Date: Sunday, November 1
Venue: Borris in Ossory
Throw in: 2.30pm
Borris in Ossory will look to book a spot in the semi-finals of the Leinster JHC this Sunday afternoon when they welcome Longford senior champions Wolfe Tones of Mostrim to O’Keeffe Park.
The Longford side have claimed the last three county senior titles, and have been competing in the Westmeath hurling league of late also. Their latest championship victory came against senior football champions Clonguish, and the Mostrim full forward line will have to be well marshalled by Borris in Ossory. Of the 1-16 the team scored in the county final, the full forward line accounted for 0-12 of that, with corner forward Paddy Cullen amassing 0-8.
Borris in Ossory come into the game with a clean bill of health, and with their top players bang in form as well. Neil Foyle’s recent call up to the senior hurling panel will be a nice boost to his confidence too and if he hits a vein of form here he could be the player that inspires Borris to victory.
They will need a big game from their half back line also, to try and keep the pressure off of their full back line who look like they will be kept busy. The first round game against Brosna Gaels came lass than a week after their Laois IHC victory, and it was a credit to Borris in Ossory that they overcame that obstacle given the short space of time they had to prepare for it. With a good run to prepare for this game, they should be in prime form and given the talent at their disposal, they will be expected to see off the Mostrim challenge.
Should they win, they will face an away date in the semi final against either Newcastle of Wicklow or Naomh Fhionbarra of Dublin
