"Laois moving forward.....", posted by PortlaoiseKid on
I thought it should be time to put Kildare match behind us and concentrate on how we move forward.
I'm not sure how we move forward positively,
Do we trust the current panel?
Do we bring in experienced players who were discarded prematurely?
Do we replace the manager?
What roll do county board have to play?
Its my own opinion that we are not going to do anything this year, I cannot see any desire from current panel to pull themselves out of the fire. Its just not in them, they've gone too far.
I feel we need to start preparing for next year right now, I see Dempsey only has 1 year deal so if CB want to keep him fair enough, but if not make moves now for mgr for 2010.We need our 2010 mgt team to see full championship schedule in Laois at all levels. We need to watch championship and pick best 40-50 players in Laois and get them in as early as possible(forget the training ban,it didn't do Kildare any harm training pre Christmas) and get them involved in trial matches and training. I'd go as far to pin point certain players who have been out of the loop and tell them their county training for 2010 starts now, weight training and physical conditioning work has to be done.
Sounds very simplistic but football is a very simple game and sometimes its an old fashioned approach that works.
Anyway that's my two pence worth.
